Meet the author session with Rafał Olbiński

“It is hard to believe that the history of JAZZ FORUM has gone on for 50 years, all of which have been richly filled with interviews of great jazz personalities, thorough reviews of albums, and brilliant polemics providing food for thought. It has also been 50 years of evolution and change in the magazine's graphic design. The recently published book of covers sums up the most creative and wild period – the 1970s.

In the 1970s, Rafał Olbiński, a great graphic designer and poster artist and creator of many popular music album covers, was responsible for the graphic design of JAZZ FORUM. The magazine was published mostly bi-monthly during that decade in an untypical square-like format resembling the cover of vinyl single rather than a typical magazine. Olbiński treated the covers of JAZZ FORUM with the same freedom, taking care of not only the laconic advertising inside the issues, but primarily creating those interesting and intriguing designs.”

Fans will have the opportunity to chat with Rafał Olbiński. The meeting will begin at 17:00 in the lobby of the Philharmonic, and will be conducted by music journalist Maciej Kaczmarski.

Jazzpospolita

The strength of “Jazzpo”, as the group is often referred to, is measured in its original compositions, placing the band on the borders of jazz, post-rock and electronic music. Their latest album “Jazzpo!” has been unanimously declared the best in the band's discography, and their tour that began in autumn of 2014 is still in in full swing, taking the band's energetic sounds to the most remote corners of the Earth.

Jazzpospolita have released four studio albums and have given about 200 concerts in Europe and Poland over the last 6 years. Working in the unchanged original 4-person line-up, they have created their own recognizable sound and have gained a stable fan base.
