Karol Kozłowski
A graduate of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Winner of the 2nd prize at the Hariclea Darclèe International Vocal Competition (Romania, 2005). Nominated for the „Polityka” Magazine Passport Award 2013 in the classical music category. In the years 2007-2009 he was a soloist of the Wrocław Opera, where he made his debut as Alfred in J. Strauss's Die Fledermaus and where he also sang in W. A. Mozart's The Magic Flute and The Barber of Seville by G. Rossini, Otello by G. Verdi, Paradise Lost by K. Penderecki and King Roger by K. Szymanowski. He performed on the stages of, among others, the Latvian National Opera in Riga (The Barber of Seville by G. Rossini), the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich (The Italian in Algiers by G. Rossini), the Kiev Opera (King Roger by K. Szymanowski), Narodni Divadel in Brno (Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte by W. A. Mozart) and the Teatr Wielki i Opera Narodowa in warsaw, where he sang in, among others, Lucrezia Borgia by G. Donizetti, Boris Godunov by M. Mussorgsky, Electra by R. Strauss, Katii Kabanowe by L. Janaček, King Roger by K. Szymanowski, The Haunted Manor by S. Moniuszko, Madame Butterfly and Manon Lescaut by G. Puccini and in The Devils of Loudun by K. Penderecki.He is a valued performer of baroque works, including: the part of the Evangelist in both Bach passions. He sang under the baton of, among others, Fabio Biondi, Andreas Spering, Andrew Parrott, Konrad Junghänel, Christophe Rousset, Helmuth Rilling, Benjamin Bayl, Jordi Savall, Łukasz Borowicz and Jan Tomasz Adamus. He performed in operas: J. Ph. Rameau – Pygmalion and Les Indes galantes and G. F. Handel – Alcina, Tamerlano and Ariodante. He was Settembrini in Paweł Mykietyn's The Magic Mountain and Kara in the world premiere of fragments of Aleksander Nowak's operaI, Şeküre to the libretto based on Orhan Pamuk's novel My Name is Red (Malta Festival 2023).
He took part in the Polish premieres of the operas: The Golden Dragon by Peter Eötvös, Nuit des hommes by Per Nørgåd, as well as Aleksander Nowak's vaudeville Rzeczy to the libretto by Marcin Wicha (Auxodrone 2023).
