Chief conductor and artistic director of the Orquesta Reino de Aragón
Born in Valencia, Ricardo Casero is one of the leading Spanish conductors who currently holds the position of chief conductor and artistic director of the Orquesta Reino de Aragón, resident orchestra of the Auditorio de Zaragoza.
While having a backlog of various orchestras he keeps regularly returning to, he will debut with the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovakian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá, the Lappeenranta City Orchestra in Finland, Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra, Timisoara Philharmonic in Rumania in the upcoming seasons and is invited to the “Teatro Real de Madrid” and the “Gran Teatro del Liceu de Barcelona”, appearing there for a first time in 2024.
After a 28-year career as an internationally renowned soloist and orchestra musician, performing under conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Daniel Harding, Claudio Abbado, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Lawrence Foster, Riccardo Chailly and Valery Gergiev, he continued his passion for orchestral conducting, and began his career as a assistant conductor at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, working closely with Zubin Mehta at Aida & Turandot, Lorin Maazel at Simon Boccanegra & Traviata, Ricardo Chailly at La Bohème.
Casero has been conducting most major Spanish orchestras such as the Orquesta Nacional de España, Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana, (Palau de les Arts), Orquesta de Valencia, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta Sinfónica de Extremadura, Orquesta Sinfónica Región de Murcia, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orquesta Sinfónica de Córdoba, Orquesta Filarmónica de Oviedo, etc.
Internationally he has collaborated with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Halle Staatskapelle, Sinfonietta Cracovia, National Radio Orchestra of Romania, Orchestre Philharmonique de Marseille, Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic of Poland, Danubia Symphony Orchestra of Budapest, Transylvania Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonica di Sanremo, Toledo Symphony Orchestra in USA, Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra, National Philharmonic of Ukraine, National Philharmonic of Georgia and the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra among many others.
Also a passionate opera conductor, Ricardo Casero has conducted La Traviata, Carmen, Tosca, La Boheme, Goyescas, The Magic Flute at the Auditorium of Zaragoza, National Opera of Albania, National Opera of Ukraine National Opera of Plovdiv, among others. Throughout his career he has shared the stage with soloists such as Maxim Vengerov, Natalia Gutman, Sarah Chang, Andrey Baranov, Alexandra Tirsu, etc.
