Mateusz Smoczyński – violinist, jazzman and composer in one person. He graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the violin class of Andrzej Gębski, where he currently conducts the jazz violin class. He is the first prize winner at the prestigious Zbigniew Seifert and was recognized as the violinist of 2017 by the Jazz Forum magazine. He regularly gives concerts all over the world, collaborating with the best musicians there are – Branford Marsalis, Bobby McFerrin, Gil Goldstein, Richie Beirach and Tomasz Stańko.
He is the leader of the only string jazz quartet – the Atom String Quartet – and a member of the legendary Turtle Island Quartet, with which he was nominated for a Grammy. He is also the leader of a quintet and a trio. The artist already has several dozen albums in his output. He is also known as a respected composer and the author of the
Adam's Apple violin concerto, the premiere of which took place in November 2018 at the seat of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.
