Jonathan Plowright
Jonathan Plowright – the prestigious magazine Gramophone named him one of the most outstanding pianists of our time. He graduated with honours (gold medal) from the famous British Royal Academy of Music. He won many awards and distinctions at international piano competitions, including Royal Over-Seas League Competition (gold medal) and European Piano Competition (1st prize). He gives concerts worldwide, from the Sydney Opera House to the Royal Albert Hall in London. He regularly performs alongside such prominent ensembles as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The artist is also well-known to the Polish audience. He has already performed, among others, at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Poznań Philharmonic, Łódź Philharmonic, played with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, as well as with our Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.Jonathan Plowright can also boast of working with such conductors as Martyn Brabbins, Paul Daniel, Sir Neville Marriner, Gérard Korsten, Christoph Koenig, Barry Wordsworth, Łukasz Borowicz and Michał Dworzyński.
The artist is also known as a true ambassador of Polish music. He has made numerous recordings for renowned record labels such as Hyperion, Warner Classics and BIS. His album with piano concertos by Władysław Żeleński and Aleksander Zarzycki was ranked third in the prestigious Classical Charts hit list, and the album with Chopin's music, Hommage à Chopin, was literally "showered" with prizes. The album was awarded with Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, Gramophone Editor's Choice, Diapason D'Or and was given the title of Classic FM and ABC Classic FM's CDs of the Week. Meanwhile, the album recorded with Sinfonia Iuventus conducted by Łukasz Borowicz with a piano concert by Paderewski was awarded the title of Editor's Choice by the prestigious magazine Gramophone and Concerto Choice by BBC Music Magazine. In the world of classics, Jonathan Plowright is considered one of the most outstanding specialists in Polish romantic piano music.
