The album Mieczysław Karłowicz Songs is the fourth instalment in a series of releases dedicated to showcasing the remarkable compositions of Mieczysław Karłowicz. It features the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the extraordinary conductor Rune Bergmann.The orchestration of Karłowicz’s Pieśni (Songs) was crafted by the talented Piotr Moss, a distinguished expert in Karłowicz's music. This project was commissioned by the Szczecin Philharmonic to mark the 110th anniversary of the composer’s death.
The album includes 17 songs performed by the mesmerising Małgorzata Walewska, a mezzo-soprano known for her rich, captivating voice. Walewska’s interpretation is both hypnotic and profound, capturing the essence of Karłowicz’s music. She is considered one of the most compelling interpreters of his works.
These songs represent some of Karłowicz’s early compositions, yet they already hint at the immense talent that would later manifest in masterpieces like "Odwieczne Pieśni" (Eternal Songs). This album is a true gem for classical music lovers, offering a deep emotional and musical experience.
