Today's film music was born in 1929 when technological advancements allowed for sound synchronisation with motion pictures.

Some film music composers, like John Williams or Hans Zimmer, have become globally recognised stars, and some of their pieces composed for the big screen have become so popular that they stand as hits in their own right. It is these film music hits that make up the programme of this concert.
