Przemysław Neumann, Director of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin (PL), announces an audition for the DOUBLE BASS (soloist).
Required documents should be e-mailed until 11-11-2025 to
d.wastowski@filharmonia.szczecin.pl, with the note "Audition – DOUBLE BASS".
Employment type: full-time employment contract (1.0)
Basic salary: PLN 6,500.00 gross. Musicians are compensated based on a points system, with the monthly norm for a soloist being 18 points (e.g., a symphonic concert counts as 12 points). Each point above the norm adds +1% of the basic salary.
AUDITION PROCESS
STAGE I
Submission of video recording and documents –
by 11 November 2025
Candidates must prepare a
single video file including:
- chosen solo concerto: K. Dittersdorf – Double Bass Concerto (1st movement with cadenza) or J.B. Vanhal – Double Bass Concerto (1st movement with cadenza), and
- W.A. Mozart – Symphony No. 40, 1st movement (selected excerpt attached).
The recording may be performed with an accompanist, solo tuning. The video must be unedited (no cuts or montage) and uploaded to a platform such as YouTube, Vimeo, or sent as a cloud link (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive).
STAGE II
Live audition at the Philharmonic –
2 December 2025 at 1:15 PM, Chamber Hall
Repertoire:
- G. Mahler – Symphony No. 1, Movement III
- Stravinsky – Pulcinella, Movement VII
- L. van Beethoven – Symphony No. 5, Movement III
- L. van Beethoven – Symphony No. 9, Movement IV (Recitative)
- R. Strauss – Ein Heldenleben
- A vista piece
STAGE III
Concert project with the Orchestra – date to be arranged individually with qualified candidates.

Required qualifications and experience:
- Higher education diploma, at least a bachelor’s degree (specialization: instrumental performance – double bass).
- Professional orchestral experience and familiarity with symphonic repertoire are highly desirable.
