Architecture as the Music of Space ”- exhibition in Cracow

The exhibition is an architectural analysis of five outstanding concert halls in Europe – the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, The National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Oslo, the concert hall in Blaibach, the Harpa concert hall and conference centre in Reykjavik and the Casa da Música concert hall in Porto – enriched with a collection of 3D photographs. It was designed by Robert Konieczny, an architect and head of KWK Promes studio, ranked by the "Wallpaper" magazine among 101 most exciting architectural studios in the world.

The exhibition by Robert Konieczny tries to answer the question of what relations and dependencies exist between architecture and music. Each of the five extraordinary concert halls is a kind of sculpture, an artistic vision that has appeared in the public space. The viewers will have the opportunity to see, not only the cubic granite block of the facility in German Blaibach, but also a curtain resembling a crumpled sheet on the stage in Oslo and look at the glare and reflections of stained glass and the mirror surface of the Harpa building in Reykjavik. Thanks to unusual photos in lenticular printing, it will be possible to feel the atmosphere, catch the ‘genius loci’ of each of these extraordinary symphony halls.

The opening at the Cracovia Hotel will take place online on February 4th at 6:00 p.m. The exhibition itself will be on display until May 2nd – from Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Entrance for free.
