Bernard Maseli commemorates the achievements of Jerzy Milian

In 2013, Bernard Maseli launched the project "Tribute to Jerzy Milian", which is a sensation not only on the Polish jazz scene. For the first time in the history of Polish jazz, four of the most outstanding Polish jazz vibraphonists will appear on one stage with the accompaniment of a rhythm section. They all feel heirs to the work of the "father" of the Polish vibraphone school, Jerzy Milian, and by presenting his most famous compositions (including the famous "Memory of Bach" or "At the Watch Makers") in team configurations and individually, they pay tribute to this outstanding artist.

The drums always play solo! Each instrument in the orchestra has its own specificity. It is known that the soloists are oboist, flutist and trumpeter; French horn – an extremely difficult instrument. The drummer, on the other hand, has such a difficulty that he has to master several playing techniques. Drums, apart from being a rhythm, are also the colour. It gives an amazing coluor, no matter how and where it is found. That is why it is such a beautiful instrument - emphasizes Jorge Valcarcel, the drummer of the Philharmonic in Szczecin, who celebrates the 50th anniversary of his artistic work this year.

Bernard Maseli began his career in 1985 with the band Walk Away at the "Jazz nad Odrą" festival in Wrocław, where he won the main soloist prize, and the band won the first place in its category. Maseli with the band Walk Away recorded ten LPs and participated in all the biggest jazz festivals in the country and abroad.

In 1999, together with the saxophonist Jerzy Główczewski and the vocalist Kuba Badach, he created his first original project called The Globetrotters. The band quickly gained great popularity, which is reflected in four albums and nearly 500 concerts played. Next excellent projects bring recordings with the star casts and numerous concert tours. He is the author of many compositions and arrangements (including radio productions), and has recorded over seventy albums. For 20 years, it has been ranked first in the vibraphone category in the Jazz Top poll of the Jazz Forum monthly.

On Monday evening, Bernard Maseli will perform on one stage with Bartek Pieszka (vibraphone, marimba); Dominik Bukowski (vibraphone, marimba); Karol Szymanowski (vibraphone, marimba); Paweł Tomaszewski (piano); Michał Kapczuk (double bass) and with Marcin Jahr (drums).
