  • Ludwig van Beethoven - Koncert potrójny C-dur op. 56
This evening, we invite you to listen to one of the most amazing works by Ludwig van Beethoven, whose 250th birthday anniversary we are continually celebrating. 'Something new' is the idea of combining a chamber trio with the sound of a symphony orchestra which could only be born in the mind of this incomparable genius. And our best young musicians will present themselves on stage!

Most likely, the Concerto, Op. 56 was the first in a series of works written for Archduke Rudolf (then a teenager). Beethoven wrote it intending to have solo parts performed by violinist Carl August Seidler, cellist Anton Kraft and the Archduke himself at the piano. Anton Kraft was the first cellist in the Haydn’s orchestra of the Esterházy Palace. He was entrusted with the leading solo part and the conduct of the entire ensemble. To this day, many cellists consider this work to be the most exhaustive of all literature for this instrument.

Beethoven treated this concerto as a kind of experiment. Instead of typical ways to develop musical motifs and ideas, the composer decided to weave lyrical melodies among solo voices. Usually, clearly outlined themes appearing in Beethoven's works are not able to catch the attention of the audience for long this time.

So much for musicologists. For a more detailed analysis of each note, please refer to the book 'Surely something new' entirely devoted to this unique piece. For the less inquisitive, the title alone is probably enough to be an encouragement to listen to our concert!
