I was saying goodbye to Greece when I was five.
I was traveling far into a world unknown to me.
The hospitable Polish Szczecin took in Greek children.
And who would, who would have known?

It is how Niki Ikonomu of the Filipinki sang about her life experience in the song "Far from Athens". Milo Kurtis could join her. They both ended up in Poland as a result of political emigration from Greece after 1949. They changed the Polish music scene of many genres. Today, Milo Kurtis is not slowing down, following one of his mottos: "A musician must be like a warrior!".

Milo Kurtis started with intuitive and experimental music as well as performances during the Warsaw Autumn Festival. The year 1972 marked the beginning of cooperation with Wojtek Waglewski and interest in ethnic and folk music. Next, the Osjan group, the founding of Maanam and the development of Polish reggae with the Izrael band, funk with the Zgoda group and further musical paths with Deuter and Voo Voo. He lived in the United States for eleven years. There he performed in various bands playing music from rock, through folk, ethnic music to free jazz.

His newest musical child is MILO Ensemble. It is a band composed of musicians from different continents. Their music, close to ethno roots, contains influences from the Eastern Mediterranean, West Africa, Tibet, Polish folk music and jazz. The MILO Ensemble concert is a form of a journey across continents and styles.
