The Presidential Concert is one of the most ceremonial events in the calendar of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic – an evening to which the residents of Szczecin are invited by the
Mayor of the City, Mr. Piotr Krzystek. It is also an excellent opportunity to celebrate the beginning of the new year together in an atmosphere of elegance, sparkling humor, and great music.
Traditionally, this concert combines lightness and finesse with the highest level of performance. The stage will feature the
Symphony Orchestra of the Szczecin Philharmonic conducted by
Przemysław Neumann, with the entire evening hosted by Artur Andrus, a master of words who, with his unique charm and wit, will complete the musical setting of the night.
Although the program details remain a surprise, we can reveal that a significant part will feature works by
Johann Strauss (son) – the undisputed king of the waltz and one of the most excellent ambassadors of musical Vienna. Born in 1825, the composer transformed the waltz into a form of almost symphonic scale, combining a dance pulse with masterful orchestration and brilliant melodies. It was Strauss who elevated 19th-century entertainment music to the rank of high art – his works were heard not only in ballrooms but also in philharmonic halls and opera houses across Europe.
Strauss’s waltzes, polkas, and marches remain symbols of elegance and joy to this day. These are works full of rhythmic finesse, shimmering instrumentation, and dance energy, accompanying New Year’s concerts around the world for decades as the essence of elegance and musical lightheartedness.
There will also be other well-known composers and melodies that the audience will instantly recognize – not only from concert halls but also from film, theater, or radio. It is music that entertains, moves, and evokes memories with equal ease. Surprises and musical humor are also planned – all while maintaining the highest artistic standards.
