Power Stronger Than Itself

Power Stronger Than Itself is a collaborative project between the Szczecin Philharmonic Big Band and the Academy of Art in Szczecin. The concert will feature the premiere performance of eight unique compositions by drummer Radek Wośko and saxophonist Tomasz Licak, who are also the driving force behind the initiative. In addition to the big band, lecturers representing jazz and popular music from the Academy will also take the stage.

Power Stronger Than Itself showcases the development, diversity, and multi-generational nature of Szczecin's music community, highlighting new trends in jazz music, particularly in big band compositions. This project – fascinating from a promotional standpoint – serves as a living testament to the effective collaboration of artists from different backgrounds united by the broad realm of jazz. The compositions will include numerous references to various places in Szczecin and inspirations drawn from the musicians' experiences.

That evening, we will see the Szczecin Philharmonic Big Band in action, which has been operating under the aegis of the Philharmonic since 2017, initiated by Igor Puszkar. Also appearing on stage will be Joanna Gajda (piano), Bartosz Świątek (bass), Kuba Wójcik (guitar), Tomasz Orłowski(trumpet), Radek Wośko (drums), and Jarosław Buczkowski (accordion).
