It’s been three years already!

NEWS | 19-07-2017
Three artistic seasons in the new premises seems to be a good moment to make a short summary of the Szczecin Philharmonic activities in Małopolska Street. Thanks to you since September 2014, we continue to be inspired into further work.
Since the eight-day-long inauguration of our activity at the new premises, there have been over 1000 events, the edifice has been visited by over 500,000 people, while the website has noted 5.5 million views! Every year we see ongoing interest in our artistic events and the building as well, which is an example of bold and contemporary architecture.

Such results would not be possible without our faithful music lovers, who regularly come to listen to symphonic concerts, discover the sounds of jazz, traditional songs and electronic music or have appeared at exhibition openings in the Level 4 Gallery. We cannot let those viewers who watched the live broadcasts of selected concerts both on TV and online go without mention. Music lovers from all around Poland, Germany and Scandinavia have became our regulars. The youth and children constitute an important target group for us - the calendar for them is prepared by EduFilharmonia.

Both halls have hosted such famous artists as 12 Cellisten, Mischa Maisky, Steve Vai, Dang Thai Son, Tabea Zimmermann, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Hungarian National Symphony Orchestra, State Choir Latvija, Terence Blanchard, Tangerine Dream, Shobaleader One, Cameron Carpenter and Joaquín Achúcarro.

Many outstanding conductors have visited us as well: Jerzy Maksymiuk, Jacek Kaspszyk, Eugene Tzigane, José Luis Gomez and Ainārs Rubikis.

And yet the Philharmonic is not only about concerts, artistic events and exhibitions, many of which have already become part of the European event calendar. It is also actively aimed at good tunes (multistage social campaign “Hear Good Tunes”), album releases and publications, as well as non-standard undertakings e.g. our original board game.

Over the last three artistic seasons we have released six albums, including “Karłowicz. Philharmonic. Szczecin” nominated for a Polish Music Industry Award, the “Fryderyk", in the category of album of the year: symphonic and concert music, or the well-received album “HEY w Filharmonii w Szczecin” (in English: “HEY at the Szczecin Philharmonic”). And this is not over! This August there will be a premiere of another album - “I żyli długo i w Szczecinie” (in English: “And they lived happily ever after in Szczecin”) with compositions about our city and for our city.

The wide range of proposed publications includes i.a. “Z historii muzyki dla wszystkich – wierszyki” (From the history of Music for everyone - poems), the comic book “Bon Ton”, and a contrast book “Principal Conductor”, e-book “Soundlab. Talks”, publications devoted to architecture i.a. a collection of photos by Radek Kurzaj “4.dimensionHarmony”, a series of gadgets for Philharmonic goers or the board game about concert organisation - ideal for all board game lovers.

There were so many events and emotions accompanying them that it is hard to enumerate them all. Thank your for being with us!
