Adam Kutny

Adam Kutny (born in 1992 in Poznań) is a graduate of the Jerzy Kurczewski Choir School in Poznań and the Pacific Boychoir Academy in Oakland, USA. He graduated with distinction from the Faculty of Vocal Performance and Acting at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, in the solo singing class of ad. Dr. habil. Jarosław Bręk. He is the winner of the third prize at the international “Queen Sonja International Music Competition” in Oslo, the “Mercedes Viñas” Special Prize at the 53rd International Singing Competition Francisco Viñas in Barcelona, the first prize at the International Singing Competition “Iuventus Canti” in Vráble (Slovakia), the third prize and two special prizes at the 2nd International Singing Competition Jan Kiepura in Krynica-Zdrój, the Grazia Cavanna Special Prize at the 9th International Singing Competition “Concorso Internazionale di canto Lirico Rinaldo Pelizzoni” in Parma (Italy), the third prize and a special prize at the 4th Jan, Edward and Józefina Reszke Vocal Competition in Częstochowa, the third prize and a special prize at the 1st National Jan Kiepura Vocal Competition in Sosnowiec, and the first prize at the 1st National Krystyna Jamroz Vocal Competition in Busko-Zdrój.

In the academic years 2013/2014 and 2014/2015, he was awarded both the Scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding achievements and the Rector’s Award of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań for the best students with exceptional academic and artistic accomplishments, while in the academic year 2015/2016 he received the Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

He has collaborated with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Łódź Philharmonic, the Pomeranian Philharmonic, the Zabrze Philharmonic, the Silesian Philharmonic, the Podlaska Philharmonic, the Częstochowa Philharmonic and the National Philharmonic, performing among others the roles of Jesus in the “St Matthew Passion” and “St John Passion” by J. S. Bach, Don Pizarro in “Fidelio” by L. van Beethoven, the bass part in the 9th Symphony by L. van Beethoven, the baritone part in the 4th Symphony “Sinfonia de motu” by Wojciech Kilar, the baritone part in “Belshazzar’s Feast” by William Walton, and the baritone part in “Carmina Burana” by C. Orff.

On the opera stage, he has sung, among others, Belcore in “The Elixir of Love” by G. Donizetti at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, Escamillo in “Carmen” by G. Bizet at the Castle Opera in Szczecin, and Figaro in “The Marriage of Figaro” by W. A. Mozart at the Bregenzer Festspiele in Austria. From 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the opera studio at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, and from 2019 to 2024 he was a permanent soloist at this theatre, where he performed, among others, Marcello in “La Bohème” by G. Puccini, Belcore in “The Elixir of Love” by G. Donizetti, and Papageno in “The Magic Flute” by W. A. Mozart, working with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Antonio Pappano and Zubin Mehta.
