Monika Korybalska
Monika Korybalska graduated with distinction from the Vocal and Acting Faculty of the Academy of Music in Kraków, where she studied under Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha, and also from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. She is a scholarship holder of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and a soloist of the Kraków Opera.The artist has performed over 40 operatic and operetta roles. Among her most important interpretations are Carmen in "Carmen" by G. Bizet, Giovanna Seymour in "Anna Bolena" by G. Donizetti, Adalgisa in "Norma" by V. Bellini, the Composer in "Ariadne auf Naxos" by R. Strauss, Orfeo in "Orfeo ed Euridice" by Ch.W. Gluck, Nicklausse/Muse in "Les Contes d’Hoffmann" by J. Offenbach, Cherubino in "Le nozze di Figaro" by W.A. Mozart, Suzuki in "Madama Butterfly" by G. Puccini, Jadwiga in "The Haunted Manor" by S. Moniuszko, Dorabella in "Così fan tutte" by W.A. Mozart and Sylva in "Die Csárdásfürstin" by I. Kálmán. She has also taken part in premieres and first performances, including M. Błażewicz’s "Olga Bo", M. Bień’s "Pizzicato", and the Polish premiere of S. Prokofiev’s "The Love for Three Oranges".
She has collaborated with numerous theatres in Poland, including the Castle Opera in Szczecin, the Grand Theatre in Łódź, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz and the Gliwice Musical Theatre. Her repertoire also encompasses oratorio, cantata and vocal chamber music.
Monika Korybalska is a laureate and finalist of vocal competitions, including 2nd prize at the 6th National Competition of Operetta and Musical Performance in memory of Iwona Borowicka, a distinction at the International Vocal Competition Iuventus Canti in Slovakia, and the finals of the 1st International Antonina Campi Vocal Competition in Lublin. In 2014, she was awarded the Małopolska Region Prize "Ars Quaerendi" in the category "Master and Student", which resulted in the recording of the album "Per Due Donne. MEZZOeSOPRANO". Her discography also includes the first recording of Stanisław Moniuszko’s opera "Beata" (as Agata) and Alfred Schnittke’s "Requiem".
She regularly performs at music festivals in Poland and abroad, including Opera Rara, the Festival of Polish Music, the Jan Kiepura Festival, the Krystyna Jamróz International Festival, the Bydgoszcz Opera Festival, the "Wawel at Dusk" Festival, Bologna Festival (Italy), and the Festival de Wiltz (Luxembourg).
