Hubert Kowalski

Hubert Kowalski is a versatile musician: composer, conductor, music producer, double bassist, and vocalist. He is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Kraków. He has collaborated with outstanding musicians such as Marcin and Lidia Pospieszalski and Tomasz Stańko. From 2003 to 2013, he was associated with the Polish Radio Choir in Kraków.

His work includes oratorios (including Christmas Oratorio, The Passion According to St. John), the musical Jealous Love, and numerous songs. He founded the ICON orchestra in 2007 and has led projects with philharmonic orchestras. He conducted the concert With One Heart With One Spirit (2011) and has produced major cultural events, including the beatification concert for Pope John Paul II (2011).

Kowalski is the author of many orchestral arrangements, including for film and popular music (he was nominated for a Fryderyk Award in 2017 for Raz Dwa Trzy – 25). He composes contemporary liturgical songs, and his arrangements were used during Pope Benedict XVI’s meeting with youth in 2006. He conducted the recording of the World Youth Day Hymn for Kraków 2016 and arranged the Polish version of the World Youth Day Hymn for Lisbon 2023. He is also the originator of the International Youth Orchestra, with which he performs music by Polish composers from the Eastern Borderlands (Kresy).
