The first lady of the Polish opera scene, the outstanding mezzo-soprano, Małgorzata Walewska, performing at the Staatsoper in Vienna and the Royal Opera House in London - will perform on the stage in the Teatr Letni in Szczecin. One of the most recognized singers in the world will perform the most famous arias and overtures created by Giuseppe Verdi and Georges Bizet.
Her career began over 25 years ago, when the director of the National Opera accidentally heard her in a radio broadcast from a competition for young singers. He was amazed and he offered her the main role of the gipsy Aza in the “Manru” opera by Ignacy Paderewski. Since then the voice of Walewska has sounded in most of the operas in the world.
In 1999, “Time” Magazine included her in the list of the 10 most famous Poles. She sings in 12 languages and speaks 5 fluently. The Polish opera diva of international fame, who has performed on the stage of the most important and most prestigious theatre in the world – the Metropolitan Opera in New York, will perform before a Szczecin audience along with the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Rune Bergmann.
