Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra is, according to the composer Witold Rudziński, his opus vitae, a testament crowning the artist's life, his musical farewell: "This concert became if not synthesis, in any case an encyclopedia of his thoughts, preferences and craft".

Przy fortepianie zasiądzie Węgier János Palojtay – laureat wielu prestiżowych konkursów, m.in. konkursu pianistycznego Paloma O'Shea w Santander w Hiszpanii; koncert poprowadzi zaś Zsolt Hamar – zdaniem Yehudi Menuhina „jeden z najbardziej dynamicznych, precyzyjnych i inteligentnych dyrygentów”.
