Between Warsaw and Wąchabno, there are over 400 kilometres, 85 years of history, a multitude of voices, sounds and documents. At the same time, there is one instrument. There is also one descendant. Yet, there are also gaps in the story that she tells. An emptiness that can barely be seen between hundreds of yellowed pages, recordings that wait forever for listeners, the sandy road of Wąchabno, the curved goat horns, the borderland, Wielkopolska and its music. How can you find a voice that no one has remembered in advance? Its reconstruction during the performance constitutes an attempt to find one’s own identity.
The performance was made at the Alternative Theater Academy, and was organized by Jerzy Grotowski Institute, Kana Theater and Teatr Brama as part of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016. The performance uses archival recordings and documents of Jadwiga and Marian Sobieski from the collections of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Kana Theater Center, which is a partner and friend of the True Musicians Tournament invites you to this theatrical investigation entitled "Brudło z Wąchabna".
