Sitkovetsky Trio

The Sitkovetsky Trio is one of today’s leading piano trios, performing on the world’s most prestigious concert stages. Their artistry has been described as “musically exceptional, sonically versatile, with focused energy, analytical clarity, and intensity” (FonoForum). The ensemble brings together Russian-British violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, German cellist Isang Enders, and Chinese pianist Qian Wu.

For almost two decades, the trio has earned international acclaim for its progressive programming, exceptional ensemble playing, and artistic cohesion. They are regular guests at many of the world's foremost concert halls, including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Frankfurt’s Alte Oper, Brussels’ Palais des Beaux-Arts, the Musée du Louvre in Paris, L’Auditori in Barcelona, New York’s Lincoln Center, and, most notably, London’s Wigmore Hall, where they appear frequently.

The trio’s recordings for BIS Records have received numerous international awards and outstanding critical acclaim. Their album featuring works by Ravel and Saint-Saëns received both the BBC Music Magazine Award and the Diapason d’Or ARTE. Their complete recording of Ludwig van Beethoven’s piano trios was hailed by critics as one of the finest recent releases. The interpretation of the Archduke Trio was selected as the leading version in blind listening comparisons by both France Musique and the BBC’s Build Your Library, while The Times included the Beethoven cycle among its "Best Classical Albums of 2024," writing: "The Sitkovetsky Trio works its magic in Beethoven’s music." Crescendo Magazine awarded the recording its highest distinction, the Joker Absolu.

Most recently, the Sitkovetsky Trio served as Artists in Residence at the Beethovenfest Bonn, where they gave the world premiere of a new Triple Concerto by Ferran Cruixent together with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. Long committed to contemporary music, the ensemble has commissioned numerous new works, placing particular emphasis on compositions by women composers.

In recent seasons, the trio has toured Israel, Hong Kong, the United States, and China, collaborating with artists including Michael Collins, Vivi Vassileva, Brett Dean, and Sharon Kam. Highlights of the 2025/26 season include returns to New York, London, Vienna, Copenhagen, and the Schubertiade in Hohenems, as well as extensive tours across North and South America and Australia.

Alexander Sitkovetsky and Isang Enders perform on exceptional historic instruments generously loaned by the J. & A. Beare’s Violin Society in London. Sitkovetsky plays the 1679 Antonio Stradivari violin known as the Parera, while Enders performs on a cello made by Carlo Tononi in Venice in 1720.
