
Conductor Paweł Kapuła is regarded as one of the most promising representatives of the younger generation of Polish conductors. Admired for his mature interpretations of a broad symphonic repertoire and his refined conducting technique, he was hailed as “the hope of Polish conducting” following his acclaimed debut with the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, where he stepped in for Maestro Stanisław Skrowaczewski.
The 2026/27 season will mark his debut at the BBC Proms, conducting the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at London's Royal Albert Hall. Other highlights include appearances with the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon, Symphoniker Hamburg, Copenhagen Philharmonic, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, Danish Chamber Orchestra, Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk and the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic Orchestra in Kraków. He will also conduct the opening concert of the 81st International Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój with the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic and the closing concert of the
Wawel at Dusk Festival.
In March 2026, Kapuła appeared alongside Martha Argerich, conducting Prokofiev's
Piano Concerto No. 3 at Hamburg's Laeiszhalle.
In recent seasons he has collaborated with the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Bremer Philharmoniker, Staatsorchester Mainz, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra at Tokyo's Suntory Hall, Xi'an Symphony Orchestra, Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt, Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, Oslo Opera Orchestra, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Meininger Hofkapelle, Gothenburg Opera Orchestra, Robert Schumann Philharmonic Chemnitz, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, Sibiu Philharmonic Orchestra and the Transylvanian State Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since 2021 he has served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Pomeranian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Bydgoszcz. In Poland he has also worked with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, Capella Bydgostiensis and the philharmonic orchestras of Gdańsk, Kraków, Zielona Góra, Jelenia Góra and Rybnik.
His discography includes a recording of Beethoven's complete piano concertos with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and American pianist Reed Tetzloff, as well as an album with Sinfonia Varsovia. He has also maintained a long-standing collaboration with the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, recording numerous works, particularly lesser-known compositions by Polish composers.
Paweł Kapuła studied conducting at the Academy of Music in Kraków with Professor Tadeusz Strugała and graduated in the class of Professor Stanisław Krawczyński. He further refined his skills as assistant conductor to Jacek Kaspszyk at the Warsaw Philharmonic and to Andrey Boreyko at the Orchestre National de Belgique. He is also a graduate of the Institute of Musicology at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
