Joanna Kędzior
Soprano. She studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the vocal class of Professor Izabela Kłosińska (Master’s degree) and at the Academy of Music in Poznań in the class of Professor Wojciech Maciejowski (Bachelor’s degree). In the 2016/18 season, she was affiliated with the Opera Academy of the Polish National Opera.She is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions, including the 9th Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition in Dublin (Second Prize and Special Prize), the 57th Tenor Viñas International Singing Competition (finalist), the 5th Jan, Edward and Józefina Reszke Vocal Competition in Częstochowa (Third Prize and Special Prize), the 23rd Riccardo Zandonai International Competition for Young Opera Singers in Trento (Special Prize), the Rudolf Petrák Vocal Competition in Slovakia (First Prize and Special Prize), and the 1st Ars et Gloria International Competition of Sacred Solo Vocal Music in Katowice (Second Prize).
She has participated in numerous masterclasses and studied with artists such as Matthias Rexroth, Eytan Pessen, Matjaž Robavs, Mietta Sighele, Helmut Deutsch, Paul Plummer, Hedwig Fassbender, Tobias Truniger, Brenda Hurley, Olga Pasichnyk, Jolanta Żmurko, Ramón Vargas, and John Fisher.
In 2019, she performed the role of Alcina in Marius Felix Lange’s contemporary opera “Der Gesang der Zauberinsel” at the Salzburg Festival. Between 2020 and 2022, she was a member of the Wiener Staatsoper, where her roles included Blumenmädchen in Wagner’s “Parsifal”, Clorinda in Rossini’s “La Cenerentola”, Frasquita in Bizet’s “Carmen”, Barbarina in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro”, Woglinde in Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” and “Götterdämmerung”, Stimme des Waldvogels in Wagner’s “Siegfried”, Najade in Strauss’s “Ariadne auf Naxos”, Adina in Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore”, Konstanze in “Die Entführung ins Zauberreich” – an adaptation of Mozart’s opera – and Taumann in Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel”.
She also performed the soprano part in the fourth movement “Das himmlische Leben” from Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. In 2024, she sang Musetta in Puccini’s “La Bohème”, Gilda in Verdi’s “Rigoletto”, and Donna Anna in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”. She recorded Penderecki’s “The Black Mask” for Medici.tv, performed the role of Gilda in “Rigoletto” at the Polish National Opera, and sang the title role in “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Silesian Opera in Bytom.
She has collaborated with conductors including Giacomo Sagripanti, Bertrand de Billy, Antonello Manacorda, Philippe Jordan, Omer Meir Wellber, Axel Kober, Patrick Fournillier, Kazushi Ono, Tadeusz Kozłowski, Pablo Heras-Casado, Yaroslav Shemet, Antoni Wit, and Ben Glassberg.
She has appeared at venues and festivals including the Polish National Opera, Poznań Philharmonic, National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Grand Theatre in Poznań, Baltic Opera, Silesian Opera, Opole Philharmonic, Silesian Philharmonic, Warsaw Chamber Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Salzburg Festival, and Wiener Staatsoper.
