George Tchitchinadze

George Tchitchinadze George Tchitchinadze is one of Georgia’s most popular artists, having quickly won the recognition of audiences and critics alike thanks to his impressive skills, refined musical taste and imagination, as well as his charisma and the warmth and sensitivity he brings to his relationships with audiences and musicians.

He began his career as an opera conductor in 1998, conducting the Gala Concert at the International Opera Festival in Tbilisi. He currently teaches conducting and heads the Opera Department at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire.

George Tchitchinadze has collaborated with several Polish orchestras, including Sinfonia Iuventus, Sinfonia Varsovia and the National Forum of Music Orchestra in Wrocław. Most recently, he conducted Christmas and New Year concerts with the Georgian Chamber Orchestra in Ingolstadt, Germany, and with the National Forum of Music Orchestra in Wrocław, with which he performs regularly.

He has undertaken numerous concert tours, including a tour of Israel with the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet, performing in Jerusalem, Kiryat Haim, Herzliya and Rishon LeZion. He has conducted orchestras including the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian National Chamber Orchestra, Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra and Syrian National Symphony Orchestra.

The maestro has also conducted the orchestra of the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet, leading performances of works including Verdi’s Aida, Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci and Mozart’s Don Giovanni. He has also collaborated with the St Christopher Chamber Orchestra as part of the Alternatyvos Festival in Vilnius.

He served as Music Director of the International Music Festival in Saga, Japan, where he conducted the renowned Hermitage Museum Orchestra from St Petersburg.

George Tchitchinadze has also conducted the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra in Enschede. He has collaborated with Sinfonia Varsovia in Warsaw, Bilbao, Minsk and Japan, and made his debut with the orchestra at the La Roque d’Anthéron Festival in August 2010.

Since 2017, George Tchitchinadze has served as Artistic Director of the Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk.
