Founded in 2007, the Meccore String Quartet is regarded as one of the most interesting string quartets of its generation. For many years, the ensemble has delighted music lovers performing in the most prestigious concert halls such as the Musikverein in Vienna, Wigmore Hall in London, Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, and the Frick Collection in New York. They have also performed at renowned festivals including the Rheingau Musik Festival, Budapest Spring Festival, Bregenzer Festspiele, Crazy Days of Music, and the Beethoven Festival.
The quartet studied under the guidance of musicians from the Artemis Quartett at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels. They also had the honor to work with Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartett) during postgraduate studies at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid and participated in interpretation courses with Alfred Brendel.
The Meccore String Quartet has won numerous awards at international competitions, including second place and the award for the best classical quartet performance at the Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition, as well as first prizes at competitions in Weiden and Sondershausen.
The quartet has released seven highly acclaimed albums. Their recordings have been repeatedly distinguished with awards such as the Diapason d’Or, Supersonic Award, Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, and nominations for the Fryderyk and International Classical Music Awards. For their latest album, Souvenir de Posen, they used historic violins by Ch.F. Gand from 1846 – one of the instruments of Henryk Wieniawski.
Meccore String Quartet has organized seven editions of the International Chamber Music Festival “Quarto Mondi.”
The ensemble members are also engaged in teaching at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, and the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.
