
Mateusz Ryczek (b. 1986) is a composer. In 2011, he graduated with distinction from the Master's programme at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he studied composition under Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, computer composition under Cezary Duchnowski, and theatre and film music under Zbigniew Karnecki. In 2019, he was awarded a Doctor of Musical Arts degree for his dissertation The Emergence of Pitch Algorithms Based on the Cello Concerto Zjawy (Apparitions).
Mateusz Ryczek’s works have been performed extensively in Poland and abroad, including in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Belarus, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, the United States, Cuba, Ukraine, and Japan. In 2013, the label For Tune Records released his first monographic album, PLANETONY. His second monographic album, Cello Works, was subsequently released by DUX.
He is the recipient of numerous composition awards and has received scholarships from the Minister of Culture, the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, and the Mayor of Wrocław.
He consults his compositions with the wind, the sun, and his daughters: Rozalia, Aurelia, and Laura.
