Paweł Tomaszewski

Pianist, keyboardist, composer, arranger, music producer, and academic professor. Dean of the Jazz and Pop Music Department at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, the same Academy where he earned a master’s degree in Piano Performance in 2007 and a degree in Composition and Arrangements in 2006. In 2013, Paweł obtained a Ph.D. with a specialization in musical arts. Nominated for the Fryderyk Award in the Jazz Artist of the Year category in 2024.

Winner of the Grand Prix and individual awards at all major jazz competitions in Poland, including the Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa, Jazz Juniors, and Jazz on Oder Festival. He has performed alongside Polish and international jazz and pop music stars, both in solo concerts and with symphony orchestras and big bands. In 2015, he was awarded the Golden Laurel of Skills and Competence in the field of Culture.
Throughout his career, Paweł has collaborated with a wide array of artists across various music genres. He has performed with such stars as Steve Vai, Nigel Kennedy, Matt Dusk, Maria Schneider, Rick Margitza, Eric Marienthal, Dean Brown, Xantone Blacq, Larry Coryell, Michał Urbaniak, Krzesimir Dębski, Jarosław Śmietana, Urszula Dudziak, Edyta Górniak, Edyta Bartosiewicz, Kasia Kowalska, Natalia Kukulska, Mieczysław Szcześniak, Kuba Badach, Adam Bałdych, and many more.

In 2022, he released his album “Coincidence” featuring his original compositions recorded with the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and guests. The album has been nominated for the prestigious Fryderyk Award in the Jazz Album of the Year category. He has also recorded dozens of CDs with various artists, including his trio – “Tomaszewski Trio – Actual Proof,” as well as two joint authorship albums, “Myrczek & Tomaszewski – Love Revisited” and “Marta Król & Paweł Tomaszewski Group – Tribute To The Police.” Paweł has participated in numerous TV, movie, and radio recordings as a music producer, arranger, music director, soloist, and session musician.

Additionally, he is the founder of the first electronic keyboard classes in Poland at the Academy of Music in Katowice. He has given lectures at jazz masterclasses around the world.
