Zohar Fresco is a globally recognized Israeli percussionist of Turkish descent. He has developed his own unique style of playing hand drums, especially on frame drums such as the Tof Miriam. From a young age, he absorbed traditional music from Asia and the Middle East, which shaped his musical identity.
Fresco was a co-founder of the groundbreaking band Bustan Abraham, where Arab and Jewish musicians collaborated. The group blended Eastern and Western styles, becoming a pioneer in this field. With the band, he recorded six albums and toured worldwide. He also performed with the group Ziryab, which specializes in classical Turkish and Arabic music.
His talent and technique have made him a valued artist on the international percussion scene. He has collaborated with many outstanding musicians, such as Glen Velez, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Philip Glass, Mısırlı Ahmet, and Ara Dinkjian. In Poland, he is particularly known for his performances with the jazz trio he forms with pianist Leszek Możdżer and Swedish bassist Lars Danielsson.
