Severin Böhm

Severin BöhmGerman tenor Severin Böhm has established a distinctive artistic profile as a concert and oratorio singer. At the heart of his work lies repertoire in which music and language are inseparably connected. Combining stylistic refinement with textual clarity and expressive storytelling, he is particularly devoted to the great sacred works of Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, while his repertoire spans from the early Baroque to the Romantic period.

Highlights of the 2026/2027 season include appearances at the Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin in Beethoven’s Christ on the Mount of Olives and Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross. Further engagements take him to Frankfurt (Oder) for Haydn’s The Creation, to Kiel for Schubert’s Mass in A-flat major, to Trier for Handel’s Messiah, and to Potsdam for two performances of Haydn’s The Seasons.

Bach remains a central focus of the season, with performances as the Evangelist in the Christmas Oratorio in Stuttgart and at Leipzig’s Thomaskirche, where he also appears as the Evangelist in the St John Passion.

In recent years, Severin Böhm has appeared at festivals, concert series, churches and concert halls across Germany and Europe. He has collaborated with ensembles including the Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble under Arno Paduch, Ensemble 1684 under Gregor Meyer and Ensemble Barucco under Heinz Ferlesch, and with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Schwerin, the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, the Collegium for Early Music Vorpommern and L’arpa festante.

International engagements have taken him to Paris, where he performed the tenor solo in Mozart’s Requiem at La Madeleine. Other highlights include performances alongside Franz Grundheber in Ryba’s Bohemian Christmas Mass, the studio production Turandot. Kommentar in Leipzig, Lucas Beineke in The Addams Family at Comödie Dresden, the Prince in Humperdinck’s Sleeping Beauty at Schloss Hartenfels, and Belmonte in a new interpretation of Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio with Taschenoper Lübeck.

Alongside his concert career, Severin Böhm has a particular affinity for German Lied. The songs of Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms have long formed an important part of his artistic work, reflecting his enduring interest in the close relationship between text and music.

Born in Zwickau in 1991, Severin Böhm received his initial training as an actor in Montréal before studying voice and music theatre with Christina Wartenberg at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig. He is based in Leipzig.
