Muzykanci are a legend of the Polish folk scene. The group was founded in 1997 and immediately became a sensation on the Polish music scene. They are among the pioneers of a sound rooted in acoustic instrumentation and drawing directly on traditional folk music. Combined with their tremendous stage presence, dynamic performances and outstanding vocal harmonies, this approach contributes to the originality and appeal of the group’s music.

The group’s repertoire includes traditional songs from almost every corner of Poland. They also draw inspiration from Lemko, Hungarian, Balkan, Roma and Jewish musical traditions.

Today, Muzykanci are one of the leading live acts on the folk scene. Their music is a journey through time and space, following in the footsteps of village musicians, Roma caravans and klezmer ensembles. Every Muzykanci concert is an artistic event in its own right.

The members of the group are equally at home playing at weddings, village dances and community halls as they are on prestigious concert stages in Poland, Europe, Asia, North and South America. They have performed hundreds of concerts in Poland and around the world, appearing at major ethno and world music festivals, including WOMAD UK, WOMAD Chile, WOMEX, Jeonju Sori Int’l Festival (South Korea), Ulsan World Music Festival (South Korea), EtnoKraków/Rozstaje, Nowa Tradycja (Warsaw), Ethnoport (Poznań), Jagiellonian Fair (Lublin), Brave Festival (Wrocław), Skrzyżowanie Kultur (Warsaw) and Budapest Folk Fest (Budapest). The group has earned acclaim from critics and audiences both in Poland and internationally.

Muzykanci have received numerous prestigious awards, including the Grand Prix at Polish Radio’s Nowa Tradycja competition, the Grand Prix at the EuroFolk Festival and the Folkowy Fonogram Roku award for their debut album, Muzykanci – one of the most important recordings in the history of Polish folk music. Their subsequent albums include A na onej górze..., featuring mainly Polish folk ballads; the Christmas album Gore Gwiazda; and Muzykanci i Hradistan, a studio-live album recorded in the Czech Republic with the Moravian ensemble led by Jiří Pavlica. Muzykanci have also made numerous recordings for Polish Radio, Polish Television and other European broadcasters.
